Boudoir? That’s Too Risqué For Me

“Don’t look at your feet to see if you are doing it right. Just dance.” — Anne Lamott

Hey, you fabulous creature,
So, you’re thinking about boudoir photography, huh? The allure of those sultry, mysterious photos has tickled your fancy. Still, the phrase “too risqué” echoes in your mind like a cautionary whisper. Fear not, my friend, because we’re about to embark on a journey through the world of boudoir photography without baring it all!

Boudoir ≠ Nudity

Now, I get it. Does the idea of posing in your skivvies make you break into a cold sweat? Or maybe it’s the idea of moving beyond sexy selfies and having someone else in the room. Fret not—you’re not alone. Let’s debunk the myth that boudoir equals nudity. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t have to!

First things first, boudoir photography is all about celebrating your unique self. It’s a chance to flaunt your personality, not just your birthday suit. Think of it as a fabulous fashion show where you’re the star, and the camera is your devoted paparazzi.

The misconception that boudoir equals NSFW might have you running for the hills, but fear not, my friend. You can keep things as covered as a Thanksgiving turkey on a chilly November evening. It’s all about the art of suggestion, darling. Leave a little mystery and let the imagination run wild.

Picture this: you, draped in luxurious fabrics, striking a pose that would make even the Mona Lisa jealous. Who needs nudity when you can channel your inner diva fully clothed? A boudoir experience is a celebration of your unique allure, and you can do that fully dressed, half-dressed, or dressed to the nines. (And you can do it undressed, too. Just that’s not the only way)

This long gown is certainly not too risqué
Another classic boudoir pose that is not too risque.

"Yeah, but I look so goofy on camera"

Even lingerie is not too risqué when posed tastefully.

Worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera? The good news is that making you comfortable and looking good in front of the camera is my job. Even if the most alluring pose you ever pulled off was hands on your hips like Wonder Woman, I can pose you showing your most flattering personality. All without being too risque.  And you won’t have to be a gymnast to pull it off.

And let’s talk about lighting. Ever heard of the term “flattering light”? Boudoir photographers are like modern-day magicians (If I do say so myself), turning even the dimmest corner into a spotlight on your fabulousness. You’ll be basking in a glow that rivals the golden hour, darling.

Your Beauty (and Sensuality) is an important part of you

Remember, boudoir photography is not about conforming to societal expectations. It’s about embracing your quirks, curves, and charisma. So, whether you’re fully clothed, draped in sheets, or rocking that fabulous lingerie, it’s all about feeling comfortable and fabulous in your own skin—whatever you choose to wear or not wear.

In the grand tapestry of life, boudoir photography is just another thread, waiting to weave a story that screams, “I am fabulous; hear me roar!” So, throw on your favorite outfit, strike a pose, and let the camera capture the unapologetic, radiant you.

Cheers to celebrating your fabulous self in whatever level of risqué you choose!

With love and laughter,
— Ron O.
